From the Fabric of High Point’s Community

A Family, an Idea and a Truck
It’s a tale as old as High Point — one that ends with a new beginning. It starts with the Congdon family, the founders of Old Dominion Freight Line who transformed a single truck running 94 miles into a multibillion-dollar global freight leader. Cut from the fabric of High Point’s community, the Congdons’ business gave back over $40 million dollars to the town through the Earl and Kathryn Congdon Family Foundation. But, most importantly, they kindled a new spark for High Point.
It was time to renew downtown High Point and its culture, community and creativity were to be the fuel.

A Rallying Cry
Taking up the Congdon family’s vision and support, Business High Point – Chamber of Commerce launched the HP365 initiative, weaving together the talent, resources and dedication of our community. International Market Centers (ANDMORE), business leader Bill Millis, High Point University, Blue Ridge Companies and interior design studio Barbour Spangle were ready to bring this idea’s potential to life.
The Congdon family had always understood the value of taking action, and now, their legacy had set its sight on a daring renovation for High Point.

High Point History in the Making
With this coalition of local leaders’ sights set on Plant 7 and The Factory, once the historic Adams-Millis Hosiery Mill, the fabric of High Point was ready to be pulled together into something new. A community effort, these buildings of yesterday are now home to Congdon Yards as we know it, an exciting Business High Point initiative, and the humming heart of High Point’s tomorrow.
The rest of the story? Well, that’s where you come in.
